A warm and friendly welcome awaits you at Wild Cottage Bed and Breakfast; the start of a perfect holiday in Lochdon and the Isle of Mull. Our regular guests call it “home from home”! And because we're centrally located our accommodation is ideally suited as a base for touring the whole island. Wild Cottage is normally open all year, except for Christmas.
Lochdon
Lochdon is a small rural village on the shores of Loch Don in the south east of the Isle of Mull and is surrounded by moorland, lochs and glens. It is only three miles from the main ferry port of Craignure (46 minutes from Oban) and just eight miles from Fishnish (15 minutes from Lochaline on the Morvern peninsular).
Lochdon is situated mid-way between Tobermory and Fionnphort and is the ideal centre for touring our beautiful island. Simple routes lead to all parts of the island and walks start right from the doorstep; the birding begins at the breakfast table!
Accommodation
Wild Cottage has one ground floor double bedroom [standard double bed], with en-suite shower room. The bedroom is equipped with a TV [with built-in DVD player], tea & coffee making facilities, a hair dryer, dual voltage shaver point etc., and is warm and comfortable. There is ample off-road parking for your vehicle, and bicycles can be stored in our garage.
Wild Cottage Bed and Breakfast is a non-smoking establishment and unfortunately we are unable to cater for your pet. See the accommodation page for more details.
We are normally open all year, except for Christmas.
Evening Meals and Packed Lunches
In addition to a superb breakfast, we can, if you wish, provide you with an evening meal and even a packed lunch for those 'all day' birdwatching trips. Special dietary requirements are no problem - we are familiar with vegetarian, gluten-free, low fat diets etc. - just let us know.
Booking
Mull is very popular throughout the year but the months of May, June and July are particularly good for wildlife. If you'd like to stay at Wild Cottage during that period then it's never too early to book your accommodation. We have already taken advanced bookings; check for the latest availability here.

Please remember that we have just the one double bedroom, we have no twin rooms or family rooms. Please note that bookings for single night stays cannot be taken more than two weeks in advance.
Tariff
Our prices for 2012 are from £30 per person per night bed & breakfast. We regret that we are unable to process payments by credit or debit card. We accept cash (Pounds Sterling) and cheques raised on a UK bank account.

Plenty to see.
The Isle of Mull has many attractions, not least its wildlife, but also fine scenery and places of historical and geological interest. So don't forget your camera!

When?
The wildlife on Mull is excellent at any time of year. But with newly arrived migrants in late April, breeding in May and June then these are the prime times for bird watching. Late July into August are good for Basking Shark and whales. If it's an Otter or two you're after then any time is good!
How long for?
Remember that although Mull is a small island, to fully appreciate all that it has to offer, you will require a minimum three nights stay. A seven night stay will give you the best chance to see most things - and it's the most economic too!
Island Travel.
Public transport (buses) is limited and expensive and only really operates on the main Tobermory to Fionnphort road via Salen and Craignure.
Several taxis operate on the island but they too are expensive.
We recommend that you bring your car or your bicycle or both!

Ferries.
The Oban to Craignure ferry requires pre-booking during the Summer months and we recommend that you do so at least two months in advance.
The alternative crossing from Lochaline to Fishnish cannot be booked; simply turn up and sail.
The ferry from Fionnphort to the Isle of Iona is foot passenger only. Leave your vehicle at the Columba Centre car park (free).
